Mobile & Wireless Roundup No. 144

Welcome to the 144th edition of this newsletter. One of the boutique conferences I always look forward to attending is PortComms. It provides a rare opportunity to hear directly from port authorities, operators and vendors about their current initiatives and future plans for deploying private networks at ports.

While case studies and announcements do appear from time to time, there really is no substitute for hearing it straight from the horse’s mouth. Ports may not always be listed among the top verticals for private networks, but they represent a significant area of deployment with a wide variety of use cases.

One of my ongoing frustrations is that many seminar organisers do not make slides available, even to attendees. I am not sure how many people would go back and rewatch a session unless something specific catches their attention or reminds them of a point they wanted to revisit. If a speaker is willing to present publicly, I struggle to see why their slides cannot also be shared openly. It helps jog the memory and serves as a valuable resource.

Having access to the slides also gives us a way to look back in time and understand what the industry was focused on during a particular period, and when certain ideas or debates were taking place. In a fast-moving space like this, those snapshots can be incredibly useful.
